I am a Covid kitty. I was born on 15 April 2020 behind Marcy and Murli’s home (AKA Spruha’s headquarters). My mom, Piku, had been a daily part of their lives as she visited twice daily for her meals. (My dad is a ne’er do well who roams the streets of Bangalore.)

But shortly after I was born, my two siblings died and mom abandoned me, so Marcy took me in and named me Atijivita (Sanskrit for survivor).

My first few months of life I spent in Murli and Marcy’s laps or on their desks while they worked on all those college applications. I couldn’t understand what this metal object was that they seemed so much more interested in playing with than me! So a daily part of my routine became trying to sneak my way on to their keyboards. I even managed to pry a key loose on each of their computers and it became a great toy - just like a hockey puck!

As I got older, I tried to imitate them by learning how to type. It made me a good essay editor, at least I think so, and evidence of my work can be seen in the image on the right.

All in all, I think I make a great contribution to Spruha. Now that my adoptive parents are vaccinated and students have started to visit again, I enjoy playing with newcomers, especially those who like to play fetch with me!
